If you try to submit a ROS P30 with a negative amount for PAYE, ROS will reject it.

We checked this scenario with Revenue and it appears that when the PAYE is negative, then it should be deducted from the PRSI. So, for example;
PAYE = -50
PRSI = 400

This should be changed to
PAYE = 0
PRSI = 350

If you are unable to make this modification, please email us your P30 and we'll do it for you.

In certain cases the negative PAYE can be greater than the PRSI. For example;

PAYE = -100
PRSI = 10

In this scenario, a zero return should be submitted. At the end of the year when the P35 is submitted, a refund may be due.

The Revenue do not issue refunds during the year.
