If you wish to pay an employee €500, grossed up (so they receive €500 after tax and PRSI etc) and also pay them €100, before Tax and PRSI, please follow these instructions;
€500 Grossed up €100 not grossed up
To select whether an amount is to be grossed up, in the Payroll screen, click on the 'Details>>' button at the top right of the elements grid. You should be able to see Tax/PRSI/Pens/Hols/G.Up columns in the elements grid.
The 'G.Up' column means gross up. Make sure this is ticked for amounts you want to gross up. So, the €500 should have this ticked, but the €100 should be unticked. However, this approach can get very complicated because the non-grossed up amount will interfere with the grossed up amount.
An alternative (easier) method would be to first of all find out what the grossed up amount is for €500 (eg, €650) You'll be able to see this on the payslip, before you click the 'Pay' button. Next, change the salary to the grossed up amount (€650) and untick the gross up check box. The nett pay should still be €500. Finally, add the extra €100 in the elements grid in the payroll screen. Make sure the extra €100 isn't grossed up.
